My name is Joey Mowery, and I am a huge nerd.
I want to help you level up your life, so I started Couch Co-Op to talk about relationships, mental health issues, and personal development in a way that is approachable for everyone: ridiculous pop culture references.
I got my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Wayland Baptist University in 2009, and my Master’s in Counseling from the University of North Texas in 2014, and in my day job I work with couples to help them find their way back together.
In my free time I enjoy playing video games, watching movies, drawing, or just hanging out on the internet in general. I believe that the media we consume and that activities that we enjoy can help us learn and grow.
What is Couch Co-Op?
Back in the 80’s and 90’s, multiplayer meant getting your friends in the same room and staying up all night playing together on the same TV. Now that online multiplayer is a thing, playing in the same room is called “couch multiplayer.” Co-Op simply means that the game is cooperative as opposed to competitive. So “couch co-op” just means playing together in the same room.
I named my blog Couch Co-Op because it is a fantastic metaphor for a relationship. We are sharing the same space and working together toward a common goal. Plus, hopefully we can have some fun along the way!
